For 1975-77 50 and 55 HP; 1975-77 75 HP (short shaft). The upper driveshaft bearing cup is a press fit in the gearcase so removing the driveshaft can be difficult without this tool. Tool is assembled around the driveshaft at the keyway. Once located, thread the locking screw into the keyway. With two 5/16-18 screws installed through the plates and two metal pads under the screws, turn the screws alternately and evenly until the bearing cup "pops" out of the gearcase.
