Dear Evinrude/Johnson. Dealers:

This communication is to inform Evinrude and Johnson dealers of Exhaust and Propeller Hub Cooling Kit, P/N 5007020.

This kit provides components to enhance exhaust cooling and allows changes similar to those on current production outboards.

In certain operating conditions, the water flow through the exhaust housing can be restricted or reduced, and exhaust temperatures can increase. Installation of this kit provides increased water flow to the inner exhaust.

Excessively high exhaust temperatures can adversely affect propeller hubs and lead to propeller hub failures.

This kit can be installed on 2005 Evinrude E-TEC 200-250 HP models and early production 2006 Evinrude E-TEC 200-250 HP models built without this feature. Refer to instructions provided with kit for specific details.

Later production 2006 Evinrude E-TEC 200-250 HP models can be identified byu the presence of two water port fittings on the exhaust housing.

IMPORTANT: For outboards experiencing propeller hub failures, check cooling system operation and water pump condition. Check trim tab and gearcase water passages. Both must be clear and unrestricted to allow water flow to propeller hub area. Tapered gearcase water passages can be enlarged to 5/16 in. (8 mm) for the complete length of passage.
